Hope in the Harvest

By Theodore R. Goyins, III

When Nicaragua was hit hard by a hurricane it destroyed homes, crops, and took many lives. The hurricane proved devastating for the local economy and the livelihood of the residents. One Nicaraguan woman was quoted in the news saying, “We put ALL our hope in the harvest to take care of our children and families”. In essence the people of this country rely heavily on the crops produced to both feed their families and also earn a living. This natural disaster paints a bigger picture for us. The very birth of hope is in the harvest we cultivate and produce. Everyday each of us is given the opportunity to either plant a seed or water those seeds that our in the growth stage. The hurricane in Nicaragua among other natural disasters should give us all valuable life lessons.
