In Love with a Memory

By Theodore R. Goyins, III

I will caress it tight to the place where the center of life beats.
It is a place where the blood flows to each part of my body to ensure that it is life and it is indeed real.
I hold these memories tight, squeezing every inch of them hoping that it will make it last longer.
Memories of childhood smiles and adolescent pains.
The smiles more than outweighed the pains of my younger years.
Years filled with love and happiness from those who were God sent to protect me.
I remember the days when I could look into to the eyes of any of my family members and see the stare of comfort.
The comfort of knowing that I was in the safest place in the world.
